Spring is a beautiful time to get married, and Swynford Manor and its gorgeous grounds promise the perfect backdrop for your special day. Looking for a little inspiration? Here are our top tips for making the most of the season (and your one-of-a-kind Cambridgeshire wedding venue)…
1. Seasonal stationery
Set the mood for your spring wedding by letting the season play a part on your invitations, seating plan, and place settings. The Wedding Office can put you in touch with our handpicked stationery supplier, who will work with you to incorporate a pretty pattern, punchy florals, or cute creatures into your theme.
2. An al fresco ‘I do’
Did you know Swynford Manor is licensed for outdoor ceremonies? You can say ‘I do’ under our pretty pergola, surrounded by up to 150 of your friends and family, and even have your wedding reception on the lawn afterwards. We’ll provide all the important bits like chairs and tables, all you have to do is remember those vows.
Make the most of shorter (but slightly warmer) evenings and invite your guests to join you outside on our elevated terrace once the sun has started to fade. This is a lovely area with plenty of space for all of your loved ones and is lent a warm glow from the Study inside – a brilliant setting for celebratory sparklers and champagne toasts, we’re sure you’ll agree.
4. Bring the outside in
The Garden Room, with its windows for walls, is the perfect way to enjoy nature from the comfort of your seat. Handmade baby pink, blue and mint table toppers or winding wreaths and branches will fit beautifully with the spring setting.
5. April showers
We know you’ll be crossing everything that the rain holds off for your special day, but there’s no need to let a little drizzle dampen your celebrations. Be prepared and make the best of it by having umbrellas – in your colour scheme, of course! – ready for guests to pick up should the heavens open, and have a pair of wellies on standby for yourself.
6. Bare essentials
The latest trend for ‘naked’ cakes will fit beautifully with your spring wedding in our country house venue. These rustic tiered sponges are an affordable option if you’re looking to save somewhere and really look the part. Pick a sponge flavour – perhaps rose water, lavender or lemon to suit the spring vibe – and decorate it delicately with fresh fruit.
7. A spot of tea
If nothing says springtime to you like an elegant afternoon tea, incorporate the tradition into your special day at our Cambridgeshire wedding venue. In the months leading up to your wedding, you could collect mismatched tea sets for a unique, vintage-inspired feel and either serve tea in them after your wedding breakfast, or make them part of the décor. Fill them with wax to make candles, add a few sprigs of sweet-smelling herbs, or leave them as wedding favours for guests to take home.
