With a delicate colour scheme, delicious menu and pretty seasonal flowers, the wedding of Holly and Brendan was the perfect introduction to spring.

Love in Springtime

On the hunt for their perfect wedding venue in Cambridgeshire, Holly and Brendan fell in love with Swynford Manor. “I was sold when we walked in and there were sparkly floors!” says Holly.  They also particularly liked the light-filled Garden Room and the fact that the venue would suit all possible weather conditions.

Design and Décor

Setting an April wedding date, the happy couple chose an elegant colour scheme of dusky pinks and golds, using Holly’s stunning rose gold engagement ring as their inspiration. Planning a simple, stylish day and a fun, relaxed atmosphere, they used seasonal flowers in pinks and whites, introducing orchids on to the top table and tulips in other arrangements. “We used The Great British Florist who take your colour scheme and send British grown flowers where possible.”

Candles and fairy lights created a dreamy ambience and the table plan featured movies with romantic quotes. “We also chose to have a semi-naked vegan cake with fresh flowers and a Lego fisherman with a Lego bride as the cake toppers.”

Bridal Style

The beautiful bride wore a princess style gown, changing in the evening in to a shorter, 50’s style dress that was perfect for the dance floor. She accessorised with diamond earring and a pearl necklace. Meanwhile, Brendan looked the part in a grey three-piece suit with pink tie.

Holly’s four bridesmaids chose long dusty pink dresses from TFNC London, completing the look with rose gold drop earrings. “The girls received lots of compliments, they looked amazing!”

Order of the Day

The 40s band who played during the wedding breakfast were a complete surprise from my parents.

Following their wonderful outdoor ceremony, welcome drinks were served on the terrace before guests moved inside to dine. Lamb was served as the main course for the wedding breakfast with a delicious vegan alternative to suit the bride.

Entertaining the guests throughout the day, a steel band played during the drinks reception, with a 40s style band during dinner and a DJ in the evening.

As the sun went down, the newlyweds danced their first dance to ‘I’ll Be’ by Edwin McCain and the happy couple and the dance floor filled.

Top Tips from the Newlyweds

“Enjoy it. If anything goes wrong, you probably won’t know about it anyway. I only wish we’d had the speeches before dinner. I sat between my dad and my new husband and they barely spoke through the wedding breakfast because of nerves!”
